Earlier this morning at 7:30 am Franklin Township PD and District 1 were dispatched to Canal road near Suydam road for a vehicle in the water. Chief 56 arrived and reported a single vehicle in the water with 1 person still inside. Deputy 28, Utility 28 and Squad 28 responded, Squad 28 was eventually canceled in route. Utility 28 arrived and 2 Swift Water Techs assisted the victim to safety. They also remained on scene to assist the tow truck driver with removing the vehicle from the water. Around 9:00 am District 1 companies were clear.

As we move into the afternoon hours flood waters will begin to recede and roads will be re opened. Until that time please use extreme caution. Roadways may look passable as you approach them but the water could be much deeper then you expected. Please don’t take the chance, find an alternate route. #MillstoneValley #Turnaround #Dontdrown

US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly has issued a Red Flag Warning for critical fire weather conditions in central and southern New Jersey today.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly due to a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and dry fuels. Any fires that develop may quickly get out of control and become difficult to contain.

Last night at 8:14 pm District 1 was dispatched to 1165 Easton Ave for a reported fire somewhere behind the building. Arriving Chiefs updated that there was heavy smoke pushing from the center of the building. Chief 56 had command and requested a first alarm. Chief, Deputy Chief, Squad, and Air responded with a total of 11 members. Chief 28 was assigned C side operations and was in charge of A28 and SQ28 crews along with Engine 55 from south bound brook. The crews split to conduct searches along the C and D sides of the building. They also assisted in fire suppression, knocked down any hot spots and later assisted in overhaul and ventilation.

Due to the size of the building and where the fire was seated a second alarm was called and Ladder pipe operations were set up around the building. SQ28 re positioned to reverse lay from Tower 42 if needed and A28 filled bottles. Deputy 28 was also in charge of B side operations. After a few hours with a stubborn fire and being upgraded to a 3rd alarm it was finally placed under control. All Station 28 members were back in station at around 12:30 am, great job by all to prevent this fire from taking the whole building. This incident was turned over to Franklin Township Fire Prevention for further investigation into the cause.

We would like to thank 47 @montgomeryems and 52 @emfas52 and RWJ for standing by as our rehab units, Somerset County Communications @somersetfmbalocal497 and Coordinators and our mutual aid companies who assisted on scene or covered the district while we continued operations for an extended amount of time.

About how long will this go for?

Yesterday at approximately 2:04 pm Station 28 was dispatched for our RIT into Hillsborough Township for a basement fire. Chief 28 and Squad 28 responded with a crew of 5. After Arriving the crew did a 360 of the building, one of the reasons we did this was due to the apartment involved being in the center of the building. We also looked for areas of egress and any obstacles that could interfere with rescue efforts if their was an emergency. Our crew stood by on the A side of the building while station 30 @findernefirestation30 stood by on the C side of the building. Thankfully the fire was placed under control quickly and a dog was rescued by Hillsborough companies. Air 28 was ready to call in service when command advised no other companies/apparatus were needed. After an hour on scene we were cleared by command. Thank you to the 12 total members that responded to the call or stood by the firehouse. We are 100% Volunteer and appreciate the continuous dedication from our members! #millstonevalley #RIT Flagtown Fire/Rescue Hillsborough Vol. Fire Co. #3 HTVFC2 ... See MoreSee Less
