Due to the Amwell Rd Bridge being closed, we will only be selling Roses and Cards this year. We also will have limited quantities of Roses available, so get yours early.

Viewing will be a Ryan’s Funeral Home located @ 145 St. Catherine Blvd. Toms River, NJ 08757, on Friday 1/2/15 from 2-4 and 7-9. Burial services will be on 1/3/15 in East Millstone at Cedar Hill Cemetery following service at the funeral home @ 9am.

Once again our officers have talked with Santa and will be bringing him around town with a Fire Truck escort. Santa will also be at our station on Saturday 12/20 around 8pm for pictures and a small gift for all those good boys and girls. Santa has also asked us to help those in need by giving him canned food that will be donated to the Franklin Township Food Bank.
Hope to see you all on 12/20 in Wildflower Ridge around 3pm and 12/20 in East Millstone / Millstone Boro area at 6pm.
Join us on Saturday, December 6th @ 7pm for our annual town square tree lighting ceremony. We will sing a few songs, drink hot coco, and start the holiday season off with friends and neighbors.
And mark in your calendar December 20th, as we will be escorting Santa around town before he returns to the firehouse for pictures and small gifts.

While we still have seats available, there has been a lot of interest in this course. If the class does fill up, we will run another one before the end of the year. We do plan on hosting 2-3 classes per year in case this class date doesn’t work for you. Also please contact us if you have a small group that you would like to arrange a private class for.
Millstone Valley Fire Department will be hosting a free community CPR/AED course on October 23rd starting at 7pm. Seating will be limited to the first 20 registrants. Upon completion of the course, students will receive a digital certification card and a digital book.

October 5th through October 11th is Fire Prevention Week, presented by the NFPA. This years theme is “Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives”. Almost 60% of home fire deaths are the result of fires in homes with no working smoke alarms.
Working smoke alarms reduce the risk of dying in home fires by half.
An ionization smoke alarm is generally more responsive to flaming fires and a photoelectric smoke alarm is generally more responsive to smoldering fires. For the best protection, or where extra time is needed, to awaken or assist others, both types of alarms, or combination ionization and photoelectric alarms are recommended.
Make sure you stop by our Open House on October 18th for a demonstration between these 2 alarms.
At approximately 4pm on Sunday, September 28th, Ranger 28 was requested to locate and transport to a pediatric fall victim from a bicycle inside of the Six Mile Run preserve. Brush 28, Ranger 28 and Car 28 (Capt. Werensly) responded to the parking lot on Jacques Lane to enter the trails and locate the injured child and his father who were in contact with Franklin Police via cell phone. Based off the description provided it was determined that the Red trail in the preserve would bring the crews closest to the point where they were. FTPD ESU had entered the trail prior to Ranger 28 and was able to locate the injured child and provide a clear way point as to their location approximately 150 yards off the trail. Ranger 28 EMTs along with East Millstone FAS EMT onboard stabilized patient for transport and Ranger 28 transported to child to the awaiting BLS ambulance.
With the increase in the local interest in mountain biking and hiking in Six Mile Run; MVFD’s preparation and understanding of the trails and terrain is critical when emergencies occur. The drilling that Millstone Valley does in the Six Mile Run Preserve pays off and is key to successful outcomes like today.
Around 9:15pm on September 22nd, Hillsborough Fire District was dispatched to a chimney fire on Beekman Lane. Arriving Chiefs (Car 36 and Car 37) found fire coming from the chimney and upgraded the alarm to a full first alarm with RIC team. Station 28 was dispatched for RIC and responded with Air 28, Car 28 and Car 282 and 8 personnel. Hillsborough crews quickly mitigated the fire in the chimney and the heat condition in the attic. Air 28 was available approximately 30 minutes after arrival once it was determined RIC services were not needed and air bottle refilling was not needed. Good job by all on scene.
